SDM relies on SSM-compliance to detect the version of SoftPaqs already installed. Needless to say, if there are errors in the CVA file regarding SSM-compliance then SDM might not report the installed status of the affected SoftPaqs. This will manifest itself as one of the following:
- A SoftPaq being reported as not installed over and over again.
- A SoftPaq being reported as having itself as the update.
Note: because SDM installs the SoftPaqs silently (no dialogs with all defaults accepted), any error messages that might hint at what the problem could be will also not be displayed. In such cases, try to install the SoftPaq manually by folllwing the instructions on this post:
/t5/HP-SoftPaq-Download-Manager/FAQ-18-What-should-I-do-if-a-SoftPaq-does-not-install/m-p/2414809#M3...
Important note: in some cases, a reboot is required to complete SoftPaq installation. Before proceeding, please reboot and run SDM again.
If you want confirmation that the a specific SoftPaq might have problems with SSM-compliance, please send the SDM Support Team an SDM log file from the session after SDM finishes trying to install the SoftPaq in question and they can do so.
However, because this team's only expertise is with SDM technical issues and not individual SoftPaqs which are released by a completely different entity, they will ask you to report the offending SoftPaqs to HP Support.
To report problems with individual SoftPaq SSM-compliance, please contact HP Support at http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html
