UNFORTUNATELY, SDM version 18.104.22.168 (the latest as of this post) has a problem where it will incorrectly not recognize the user as an administrator if UAC is turned on.
If you have SDM version 22.214.171.124, have UAC turned on and you are logged in as an account that has administrator rights and SDM displays the above dialog box, please be advised that this is a bug found ONLY in version 126.96.36.199 of SDM and will be fixed with on the next release.
In the meantime, there are two workarounds we can suggest to circumvent this problem:
1) Although not recommended, you could turn UAC off and reboot for the changes to take effect. We don't recommend this approach because UAC protects the computer against attacks. We include this option for completness purposes only.
2) RECOMMENDED WORKAROUND: Force SDM to launch with administrator right. To do this, please follow these steps as a workaround until a new version of SDM is released:
Open Windows Explorer.
Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Hewlett-Packard\HP SoftPaq Download Manager. Note: if you have a 32-bit operating system, navigate to C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\HP SoftPaq Download Manager.
Right-click on the “SoftPaqDownloadManager.exe” file.
Select “Run as Administrator” from the pop-up menu.
