Trying to use HP Remote on macOS Sierra

Able to ping machine, but HP Remote is giving the following error:

Unable to connect to Sender!

There are several possibilities:

  1. The hostname or IP address that you entered is incorrect or invalid. Verify that the hostname or IP address that you entered is correct.
  2. A firewall is blocking incoming connections on the Sender or Receiver system. You may need to disable or configure your firewall to allow incoming connections. Note that Windows XP SP2 and RedHat Enterprise Linux enable a firewall by default. Please consult the README.txt and the user guide for the most recent information on configuring firewalls.
  3. A Sender is not running on the system you are attempting to connect to. Verify that the Sender is running on the system that you are trying to connect to.
  4. The Sender system is not started or connected to the network. You could try a basic connectivity test, such as ping.
  5. The network is not configured correctly. For example, DNS may not have resolved the name of the Sender system correctly or your /etc/hosts file, if using UNIX, does not have the proper IP address mapped to the hostname. Try entering the IP address of the Sender.
  6. The Sender is started and listening on a different network interface than the one you are attempting to connect to. This could be the case if the Sender system has multiple NICs, it is a multi-homed system, or there is a virtual ethernet device installed. If this is true you may need to specify the binding order of hostnames to IP address.
  7. If you are attempting to connect to a UNIX system you may have entered an incorrect screen number.
  8. The Sender system has changed networks and been assigned a new IP address after the Sender was started. If this is the case you'll need to re-start the Sender service/daemon.

Hi,

What device / operating system you are using?

HP AIO Remote is intended for iOS devices such as iPhone or iPads.

Sierra is a Mac OS version for Macintosh computers, HP AIO Remote is not intended for Mac computers:

http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03561640

Click Settings > General > About to locate an iOS version on a mobile device.

Click the Apple icon > About this mac from a Mac computer to locate its version.

Please clarify above, I will guide you further accordingly.

Were you able to get RGS working with MacOS Sierra?  If not, please provide the RGS versions for both Sender and Receiver (they should be the same).  The latest release version of RGS is 7.3.1.  If RGS is still not working, please set the Log Level to "DEBUG" and generate logs on both the sender and receiver and attach to a reply on this forum.

Logging is documented in the RGS User's Guide available near the bottom of the page at hp.com/go/rgs.
