It has been months since this app "updated" and we always hear of bug fixes etc. WHY is the collage option still not working or better yet, easy to use??

Yes we make sure app is updated, restart, reset, reinstall. Still can't change orientation of photos in collage mode. Well you think you did and nope, it likes it the way it had it. Pinching and zooming doesn't help because there's nothing to guide the user to make sure the photo is even straight. Then it'll add a white border in between?

I really want to continue using this printer but after zero help or changing the dang thing back to how easy it was before, I'm forced to find a more dependable printer and app. No one wants to do that so please chime in HP!

Hi @Mavalos1113

Welcome to HP Support Community!

We noticed that this thread hasn't had any updates in a while since your original post; while this is rare, we didn't want this post to remain unanswered, so, here's the solution to your query. We hope it helps you and everyone viewing this post 😊

I hear your frustration — you’re not alone.

Let me break this down and suggest what you can do now:

Things You Can Try Right Now

Use an Older App Version (Workaround)

If you’re on Android, you can sideload an older HP Smart APK (from when the collage worked smoothly).

On iOS, this is trickier, but you could try HP Smart via browser (web version at hp.com/go/hpsmart).

Third-Party Collage Apps

Many users have switched to free collage editors (e.g., Canva, Fotor, PhotoScape, even built-in Photos apps on iOS/Windows).

You can design the collage there and send the finished image to HP Smart just for printing.

This avoids the current bugs entirely.

Turn Off “Auto Orientation” in HP Smart

On some builds, there’s a toggle in App Settings → Print Preferences to stop automatic photo orientation.

If available, turn this off — it sometimes prevents the app from overriding your manual rotations.

HP Feedback

Open HP Smart → Settings → Help & Support → Send Feedback.

The more reports HP gets tied to specific models, the faster they patch it.
