My Sprocket 200 is printing blanks. It was working flawlessly in the past. The battery is 99% according to the Printer Manager feature of the App when connected via USB. I tried everything, including reinstalling the app,  and making sure the paper is set up correctly with the blue paper at the bottom. One suggestion was to do a factory reset. The manual says, "A factory reset can only be completed when the USB charging cable is NOT connected to the printer." But as soon as I disconnect, the red led light next to it turns off--- the power goes off. The printer ceases to connect to the app.

Please help.

Hi @MSolve

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—and I’m really sorry your Sprocket 200 is acting up like this. Printing blanks and refusing to stay powered without USB? That’s definitely not the smooth experience you deserve, especially when the battery shows 99%.

Here’s a breakdown of what might be going on and how you can move forward:

🔍 What’s Likely Happening

Even though the battery reports 99%, it may not be holding a proper charge or delivering enough voltage to power the printer independently. This can happen if:

  • The battery is degraded or faulty
  • The charging circuit isn’t functioning correctly
  • The battery status is misreported by the app

Since the printer shuts off immediately when unplugged, it’s unable to complete the factory reset as instructed.

🛠️ What You Can Try

Soft Reset (Power Cycle)

  • While still connected via USB, press and hold the power button for 7–10 seconds.
  • Wait for the LED to blink or the printer to power cycle.
  • This may refresh internal settings without needing a full factory reset.

Charge for Extended Time

  • Leave the printer connected to USB for 3–4 hours uninterrupted.
  • Sometimes the battery needs a deep charge cycle to recalibrate.

Try Reset via App

  • Open the HP Sprocket app > Menu > Manage Printers > Printer Settings.
  • Look for a reset or restore option that doesn’t require disconnecting USB.

Use a Portable Power Bank

  • Connect the printer to a portable USB power bank instead of a wall outlet.
  • This may allow enough flexibility to disconnect from a PC while still supplying power for the reset.

Inspect Battery Health

  • If you’re comfortable opening the device, you can check the battery voltage directly.
  • A helpful video walkthrough shows how one user revived a Sprocket by replacing the battery and restoring power.

If none of these steps work, the battery may need replacement.

Let’s get your Sprocket back to printing memories instead of mysteries 📸
