HP Sprout
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I was interested in buying the Sprout to do 3D scans of die cast car toys but read that it doesn't scan well with shiny objects.  Has anyone scanned in matchbox or hot wheel die cast toy cars?  Does it leave a lot of gaps because of light reflecting off?

Also, after doing a 3d capture what formats can you export to besides obj ? jpeg, png, mov?

I've looked around at best buy, staples, microsoft store, microcenter in my area for an HP Sprout to try out, but no one has it anymore.

The HP Sprout Pro was announced last Jan , so maybe thats why HP is clearing out of the current model because of a new model is coming soon? HP online store shows it as "out of stock".

I've tried looking around but couldn't find a better solution for 3D scanning.

Any recommendations/ input would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks,

Thanks for trying! I bought the sprout/ 3D capture turn table and tried it out also.... results were not good. Because the object was small, a lot of the details were not scanned in. I was able to do jpeg exports of the scans. I ended up returning the unit as performance was not what I hoped for.
