It appears to be trying to connect to the Microsoft update server.  There are two things you can do but I am guessing as you did not identify your product.

1.  If your system has ethernet port connect a cable to the modem.  If not then be sure to select tjhe correct ID and enter the Wi-Fi information for the wireless modem.  Look for the icon that shows the Wi-Fi was properly connected.

2.  During the install do NOT select an email or Microsoft account as the login in.   If it asks to update then select "NO" or skip.  For the account, just use a made up name and skip over any request to log in or activate windows.   After you log in you can change to the "Microsoft Login" else create a new admin account and using our original login information.

Thank but now the screen is blank

HP Recommended

Please explain when the screen went blank.

Was it after doing the setup and rebooting?

Were you unable to do the setup because it was blank when you turned it on?

Please shut it down and run the diagnostics

Press ESC when the system seems to first turn on.  The HP diagnostic option will show up.  Select it and run the diag.  Look for possible disk errors.  If there are no errors possibly the windows install was bad.

What is the product ID (not serial number)

If you have a new (2016) system then go here and see if there is cloud download to install windows

This matrix
https://ftp.ext.hp.com/pub/caps-softpaq/CloudRecovery/crsupportedplatform.html
may show your system is supported for restore from the cloud.
