HP Elite X3 Lap Dock
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have a HP Elite X3 phone and the Elite X3 Lap Dock - the Lap Dock is currently on firmware version T0053.

I received the phone a couple of days ago and installed the latest OS updates, and the latest HP Device Hub (2.2.2.0)

When I plug in the Lap Dock I keep getting notifications from HP Device Hub stating "Recommended version is available for your Lap Dock", though when I click on these it takes me to Device Hub, which shows HP Lap Dock, then beneath that it shows "Current Version: T0053", however there is no update option available?

If I select HP Lap Dock, it shows the same summary, again with no update option. From what I've seen with online screenshots there should be some blue text showing firmware update available which you can select to update.

Does anyone have any ideas?

I know the latest version is at least T0059, not sure if it might be something to do with how Microsoft slowly pushes out updates for Windows PCs - maybe it's a similar thing with phones? (Even though this is an older update)

Cheers

Wozz

Ive checked log files (for whatever reason these are saved to the Pictures\OOBEGarage_Logs folder)

Looks like the lapdock isn't registered with the SUM server (I dont know what this is), then the software attempts to register it with the SUM server at https://sum.hpmobilesmart.com/api/device/v1/register though this site has an expired certificate and doesn't work

(tried accessing it with browser)

I also tried accessing https://sum.hpmobilesmart.com which works, but creating an account fails and it says talk to an Administrator.

After this site fails to access, it looks like there is some sort of Runtime Exception.

Hi, I am having the exact same problem. Has anyone heard back from HP on this or have they just decided to pull support for the X3? So much for their commitment to support the product going forward.

I created support ticket with warranty, and the typical morons have no idea what i was talking about. When i said it was the smart update website server not working, they first suggested me getting a new phone (because i already tried a new lapdock). Told the fool even if you had 100 new phones it wont fix the issue. He then told me to contact hp enterprise server support and closed my case. Now have to ask these fools to reopen and not send me on a wild goose chase.

Did you ever recieve an update from these guys? Should I just give up on the x3? I have the desk dock (v .5) and it keeps telling me there's an update, but you can't actually update anything because it can't get to the firmware.

Kills me because in the HP Device Hub screenshots in the Microsoft store it shows a desk dock on version .5 with an update available to .6.

It looks like I can't download the device hub to my device anyway - it's listed as incompatible.  I' d try uninstalling and re-installing but then I'd have no device hub at all.
