HP Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0008na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So far, I regret ever purchasing this laptop. I've  owned it for 8 months and have only used it a handful of times, because it is so slow.

I turn it on, no problems there , it is pretty quick. Once I type in my password I have enough time to make a cuppa, have my breakfast and read Metro news. Nearly 6 minutes it takes to load my profile and then it is down hill from there. I have downloaded Google Chrome and haven't personalised it in anyway, ok maybe a couple of apps from the Microsoft store, but that's it. It is driving me made. I don't use Microsoft Edge because it barely responds and when it does, it's slow and then displays as not responding. Its the same for every thing I do. In comparison, my old HP Pavilion, which is now 8 years old and operates windows 7, is Usain Bolt. I now wish I'd paid the extortionate price to upgrade it, than purchase this heap of junk.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

@Yetanotherlogin Welcome to HP Community!

here's what I recommend you do:

First, let's start with performing a hard reset on the PC to release any excessive static/power that could have caused the issue.

Turn off the computer.

Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Press and hold down the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.

Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.

Second, you can check if there is Bios update available for your PC, here is the link to download.

Performing a test on the Hard drive as well as on the Memory from the Hardware diagnostics:

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.

  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. On the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu, click System Tests.

  4. Click Extensive Test.

  5. Click Run once, or Loop until error.

While the test is running, the time remaining and test result for each component are shown on the screen. The test can take 2 or more hours to complete.

   NOTE:

If the diagnostics are not available when using the F2 menu, run the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics from a USB drive. To download the latest version of the diagnostics, go to the HP Hardware Diagnostics website. For instructions, see Testing from an external USB device.

Depending on the test results, If the test passes then I would suggest you perform a complete system recovery.

Note: Recovery will wipe off everything from the computer. If you have anything important get in touch with some local stores to get your data backed up.

Given that this laptop has had ALL of these issure I'm currently experiencing, since I purchased it. When I say since I purchased it, i mean from the minute I took it out of the box and pressed the on button.

What you are detailing is a highly complex fix, for a novice like me, to peform on a laptop which is only 9 months old and still under warranty. If I run a BIOS and I run it incorrectly, that would render my laptop useless, would it not?

There is no new updates, it has already been restored to a previous recovery point, which didn't and wouldn't work, because I've had these issues from the moment I took it out of the box. It has already been wipe and set up again from new.

The only thing left from your list is Bios, which I'm not willing to mess around with, incase i cause more damage.

Anything else?

@Yetanotherlogin A hardware test (second set of steps from my first post) could help us identify if this is either a hardware or a software issue, also, there's nothing wrong in being cautious about running a Bios update, but it's not as bad as it seems, considering you can always recover the BIOS if its interrupted or not installed properly, as most performance related issues are fixed after a BIOS update: Click here for step by step information.
