Android 7.0 - 7.1.2 Nougat

Hi I have a problem in that the speaker works fine with some devices but not with my samsung j2 pro 2018 phone, is there a solution or are they not compatible?

It clearly says that the HP Speaker is working fine.

 

I suggest you update the Android and remove the added Bluetooth and add it again.

I'm guessing that the problem lies on your phone. you can check its speaker setting and otherconnection setting such as volum to determine the issue. I hope it will work eventually.
