HP 8 G2
Android 4.4 KitKat

Hi, I absolutely love HP. The HP 8 G2 is almost perfectly designed. My problem started about a year ago when I was out in the world. I was minding my own business and a group of thugs demand I hand valuables to them. 1 of them got a HP 8 G2 upside there face. Enough force was created to shatter the screen like a spiderman web, but overall my HP 8 G2 won the battle with a single blow. Huge thanks to HP for making such a sturdy device. I thought the device would definetly be broken but, after the easiest disassemble of outer plastic cover ever and the most simplest design of wire connection that's easily accessible and clear to understand I reconnected 2 wires and the HP 8 G2 was working. Now the screen cracks are huge and deep, and the touch screen was playing up, but I left the device in direct sunlight and a lot of the cracks dissapeared and the touch screen worked great with only a few huge noticeable cracks but the screen was smooth again after exposure to direct sunlight for a day, and it stopped leaking fluid from the screen. I was amazed beyond belief. All was fine until now. The fluid in the screen leaked a lot. 50% of the touch screen is unresponsive. I have full display and colour but no touch:(, which leads me to my question. FINALY you shout in joy lol.

I can not find any info in relation to HP 8 G2 spare parts and screen replacement. Maybe HP 8 G2 was made so good only I have managed to break one. I used a huge amount of force to cause the damage.

I would like to get this one fixed purely for sentimental reasons lol. We have had some good times and can't just let it go as if it was crappy cheap load of crud, because its not, its perfect. I want it forever.

Any suggestions on how to fix and where to get parts in the UK would be very appreciated.

And any tips on how to reinforce a screen to prevent this from happening again 🙂

Thanks everyone. HP is the best.

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Interesting story!

I can only direct you to the HP parts website:  http://partsurfer.hp.com/

Since the tablet is now obsolete, chances are slim for finding parts.  You'll need the full model number to dig deep enough.

Good luck!
