Hi:

Run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below, that will show you the Windows product key and the version of Windows the key is good for.

Post the report results without the actual product key.

You are running Windows 8.1, the key should be on the bottom of the OEM laptop or back or top if desktop. It is also possible you typed it wrong. Microsoft (on purpose) makes a B look like and 8 and a ZERO 0 look like the letter O so look carefully.

If you bought the software off the Internet it could have been an Enterprise Key, which means it was issued to a major business and someone stole it and sold it, Sometimes you can get it to activate but then MS will kick it out later.

If you can please let us know if the key came with the system and is stuck on the system.

Hi, @Tasana-Studios

Notebooks that came from PC manufacturers with W8 or newer installed, do not have product key stickers anywhere on them.

The product key is in the BIOS which is why I gave the person the utility to run that will show the product key and the version of Windows the key is good for.

Since I skipped Windows 8 all together I thought only Windows 10 had the key on the motherboard. I was not aware MS did the same with Windows 8. I stand (sit) corrected thanks.
