I recently bought a laptop from HP, and there's this issue where the laptop makes a metallic clicking sound at random. I've tried updating the BIOS and ran a disk check and got no error issue. 

Please let me know if this sound is common, if not how can I resolve the issue.?

This seems to be a mechanical issue with the Hard drive. 

 

I suggest you contact HP Support in your Region for Service Options

 

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/ 
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device. 
4) Select the country from the drop-down. 
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences. 
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
 

Please run a System Test and let me know if you hear the clicking sound

 

- Shut down the Notebook completely
- Turn it back on, then tap the Esc key repeatedly until the Startup menu screen is displayed.
- Press F2 to select System Diagnostics.
- Click System Tests, then click Extensive Test.

Hello,

Yes i performed the extensive test and got no error from the test.

But the sound is still present.

The noise is heard when the disk starts to run.
