Pavilion g7 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Bought a new laptop battery as my old one kept getting error message on charging. New one worked for a couple of weeks, and now getting the same error messages "battery plugged in, but not charging". Have tried ALL the fixes recommended. Beginning it think it's something with the software or something. Does anyone have a permanent fix for this? Can only use my laptop plugged in as charging keeps going down. This week it's down from 59% to now 30%. Really upsetting.

As I understand, you're getting an error message "Plugged in and not charging"

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

When was the last time it worked fine?

Were there any hardware/software changes made?

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling battery drivers?

From where did you purchase the new battery?

 

Let's try these steps to resolve the issue: 

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Shutdown the computer.

7) Remove the battery for minute and then put it back in.

😎 When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.

9) Go to Device Manager.

10) Expand Batteries.

11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"

Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

 

Once completed, run the battery test following steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GinAFo.

 

Also, Go through them all and let me know what you have determined is causing the issue. 

The first document has the most relevant troubleshooting if your battery appears to be not charging.

Battery Does Not Charge when Using a Voltage Adapter with the Power Adapter
