I don't receive many of the texts sent to me and they are lost forever. I can't send texts half of the time without restarting the phone (I tried changing setting from LTE+CDMA to just CDMA, but it didn't make a difference and caused other issues). Also, my contacts don't work. I've added and removed them over and over again, turned off syncing, switched which accounts sync, etc. and nothing works - every phone call I get just says "Unknown" as the caller; doesn't even show the phone number.

I had this problem too.. and HP sent me a replacement device.. same problem.. after 3 tickets with Verizon, a network tech noticed VOLTE was not active on my account.  The HP X3 requires VOLTE.  I now have LTE speeds while in a call, vs 1X...

I have the same exact issue with text messages. Some texts won't send without restarting the device. Many people tell me they have sent me texts, but I never receive them. I don't have the contact sync issues that you do (thank God).

Call Customer Svc, make sure VOLTE is active for your acct.
