Pavilion G7 2215dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Pavilion G7 2215dx.  I have added 4GB ram, put in a solid state 5TB hard drive.  Everything  worked fine  for about a month.  Noticed battery wasn't fully charged.  It will not charge unless I power down (unplug, remove battery, discharge) and restart.  Replaced battery, still will not charge.  Power supply reads 18.5v.

Normally always plugged in to ac, running an LG 22" tv as monitor, one display only.  Laptop is sitting on a usb fan  cooling plate powered by different source.

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand the battery is not charging. I'd be happy to assist you. Let us try these steps to resolve this issue:

 

Try a hard reset:

 

1) Shutdown the computer. 
2) Unplug all the Adapter and peripherals connected. 
3) Press and hold down the power button for 15 to 20 seconds. 
4) Plug-in the Adapter. 
5) Try to turn on the computer. 

  • Have you tried with an alternate AC Adapter?

Reinstalling Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager may resolve this issue. Let us try these steps: 

 

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

 

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

 

If the issue persists, I recommend you update the BIOS from this link, enter your Product number or name.

Click here to run a battery test on the PC.
