Hi, can anyone please advise if I can use the spare expansion x8 slot to upgrade the permanently soldered NVIDIA N15S-GM graphic card, to something like GTX 1060?

Many thanks,

Ian

@taffymanvidia Welcome to HP Forums Community!

I'm afraid upgrading the graphics card on an all-in-one device such as the one you have is just not an option, considering it's soldered into the motherboard as you've mentioned.

That said, if you need anything else, I would be happy to help.

The reason for an upgrade query, do you have any performance issues? maybe I can help with that?

Thanks for your reply.

The aim is to use VR headset, the one I have my eye on 🙂 is Oculus Rift S. The Envy passes all the hardware/software requirements except the graphics card. The current one being soldered to the motherboard, I was hoping I could use the spare x8 expansion slot to insert another card. I think an external card is possible using USB3 but would rather it be all internal.

Cheers, Ian

@taffymanvidia An expansion card using the USB is the only way out, I'm afraid as there's just no way the GPU can be changed on this all in one, that said, if there's anything else I could help you with, please let me know.

Also, ensure the expansion slot is compatible with the device and the Oculus rift 5 to avoid any complications.
