Wireless mouse x5500
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I just bought a new x5500 wireless mouse.  Although the box states that it is compatible with Windows 10 when I searched for the drivers as the manual advises me to do, it says that my operating system is not available for the product.  I tried device manager in Windows but it advises that the generic Windows 2006 drivers are the most recent drivers to be found on the web.

The mouse operates in a jerky fashion and sometimes not at all.

I am at the point of returning it to HP unless someone has a solution

Thank you for your response to my post.

The basic issue is that HP's website does not have a driver for the mouse causing the operating system to default to the Windows generic HID compliant driver dated 2006.  On the HP software download page for the X5500 wireless mouse the latest Windows OS available is Windows 8 whereas my OS is Windows 10.  I found it strange as the manufacturing date of the mouse is a date in 2017.

I have already taken the mouse back to the supplier who could not solve the problem either and was kind enough to reimburse me.  I am sure that they will be taking it up with HP.

@Div4RSA,

Thank you for keeping me posted.

The mouse is a plug and play devices and usually uses the windows generic drivers. However, I will certainly look into this.

If any other questions arise, please feel free to write back to me.

Good day! Take care 🙂

Cheers!

@marcwe,

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it resolves the issue.

1) Press Win+R (Windows key and R key) at the same time. A Run dialog box will appear.
2) Type gpedit.msc in the run box and click OK button.

3) Click User Configuration in left pane and double-click on Administrative Templates in the right pane.

4) Double-click on System.

5) Double-click on Driver Installation.

6) Double-click on Code signing for device drivers.

7) Select Enabled change it to Ignore from the drop-down menu. Then click OK button.

After disabling the code signing for device drivers, install the driver and it should work this time.

IMPORTANT: Remember to enable the code signing for device drivers after installing the driver.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
