Windows 2017-12 Cumulative Update for Win 10 ver 1709 (Update KB4054517) has caused a compatibility error with the hp acceleronmeter at windows startup. This is a known problem, with several driver updates available for the various Hp products. How do I determine which driver update is applicable for my device?

Thank you for your pompt reply. Especially this being the holiday season.
Unfortunitely, it it is unclear if the new driver SP83846 (ver 6.0.45.1) is operating. It has stop the compatibility error upon windows startup. But is my hard drive protected? I have checked the status in both the "device manager" and in "Program Files (x86).
1) "Device Manager" says the driver is version 6.0.22.1 while
2) "Program Files (86)\Hp\"Hp 3D Drive Guard" shows several small files with the expected version 6.0.45.1
Can you confirm that this is as it shoud be thus restoring my "peace of mind" and allowing me to close-out this issue.
Once again Thank you and Happy Holidays.

You're very welcome.
Unfortunately, I would not be able to verify if the accelerometer is working or not, and the only way you can verify it, would be to lightly drop the notebook, which of course I don't recommend.
However, I do know for a fact that the new driver does not place the 3D driveguard icon on the taskbar on anyone's PC that had the message that the 3D driveguard app is not compatible with this version of windows notice.
All I can say is here is the official release notice from HP advising the file I gave you is the latest resolution...
