HP Stream
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Why is my HP Stream laptop taking so long to do a Quick Scan....

I've only just bought this, not done a lot on it yet, but Window Defender said PC Status was potentially unprotected & needed to do a scan?!?!

That was 2hr ago....it's still going.....WHY??

Greetings @Neddy1

Thanks for the post and Welcome to HP Forums.

I understand that your new computer is running very slow.

Not to worry, I will be glad to help.

Have you tried any troubleshooting steps on your own?

May I know the product number of your computer? Click here. Please do not share the serial number of your computer.

Any new computer will have a lot of Windows updates to be installed, which usually takes anywhere between 3-10 days.

Recommend you go settings from the Windows menu/button and check for updates in the Settings window.

Also run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated on your computer. Click here.

Please install the updates and I am sure your computer will start working fine.

Keep me posted.
