I am trying to find a way to upgrade the storage as at the moment I am going from old comp to new and using it as a hard drive so to speak takes ages to keep converting agh please can you sugges anything

Hi

Can you expand on the model that you have?  OR an SKU number.

WinKey + R and type msinfo32   and it's  line 9.

An external caddy plugged in via USB 3 using your old HDD?

@Rosaleen

>>> Product Name: xp360

HP does not have any product called xp360. I know many products called x360 but they are not detachable, they are 2-in-1 machines. What is it ? Please use the following instructions to find out the model/product of your machine:

  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00033108

  Please do NOT post its Serial number (s/n).

@Rosaleen

Machine is an HP Pavilion x360 13-u063sa. Its s[ecs:

   http://h20195.www2.hp.com/v2/default.aspx?cc=ie&lc=en&oid=13430174

There is NO Maintenance and Service Guide for this series

     https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/hp-pavilion-13-u000-x360-convertible-pc/10862149/manuals

But I believe it is very close to the 13-u1xx series. You can upgrade by adding 2.5" HDD or SSD to its normal HDD bay BUT you need more parts (2 of following 3 depending your option):

  • The hard drive/solid-state drive cable is available using spare part number 856011-001.
  • The hard drive mounting bracket is available using spare part number 856012-001.
  • The solid-state drive mounting bracket is available using spare part number 856013-001.

Regards.

Hi

   has given excellent advice.

A caddy is a USB case with a Hard Disk (your old one) fitted inside and plugged in when wanted.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/hdd-caddy/s?page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Ahdd%20caddy

An alternative could be NAS (Network Attached Storage) much like the caddy, but on the home network.

Encryption should be considered.
