hp envy x360 pen touch i7 2020 model
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

Everytime from the date of purchase (2020) I have seen that my envy laptop don't successfully restart. Whenever there is windows update, and needs restart it gets stuck with black hp logo screen (dot circle going round and round), forever. Ultimately i had to drain laptop battery completely to restart it again. Initially when happened i thought it was glitch, and ignored it. But this has been happening forever. So whenever window gets update  need to drain the battery to restart it again successfully. This is absolutely frustrating as the battery cannot be manually removed like in old laptops. I guess this must have affected the battery capacity as well. Need to get this figured out. Another issue is with internet connectivity with hp laptop. the internet gets disconnected quite often without any reasons (i checked with router and my internet provider, they are fine). For this i also used other company old laptop. My old hp pavillion laptop i7 (bought in 2015) also had the same issue or network disconnect.  I think now i am done with hp laptop for ever and probably should start looking for other brands?

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.
Firstly, perform Windows Update and HP Support Assistant: (do not skip any troubleshooting steps if you feel steps are repeating)

To check for updates now, select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates.

Install updates from HP Support Assistant: Go to Download HP Support Assistant to install the tool.

  1. To open HP Support Assistant, double-click the HP Support Assistant icon https://support.hp.com/doc-images/932/c05040382.jpg.
  2. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the PC or My notebook pane.
  3. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.
  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.
  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

And, also BIOS Update: Follow steps from the link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c00042629
