Pen for Spectre 13-4103dx x360 NOT WORKING

Just got this used laptop for my kiddo as a Christmas gift. My kiddo is heavily into art and needs a usable stylus pen interface to be able to draw etc.
Finally got a new AAAA battery for the stylus pen that came with the laptop. The pen was/is unused previously as the prior owner basically left it in the box/packaging.
I followed the instructions I found online... put battery in, tapped pen tip to the screen. NOTHING.... IT DOES NOT WORK!
Please help! I wanted to have this working for Christmas morning and the dang post office delayed the package for so long that I am only just now finding out that there is some kind of (presumably) driver issue with the pen interface!...
The pen is labelled with p/n 761392-001 and sps p/n 773175-001. Also says MSIP-RRI-HPK-PR845 off to the left of the part number information.
PLEASE HELP!

I cannot find any evidence that this model laptop supports a Stylus (pen).
I'm not sure why the pen was included with the computer.
