VH240a Monitor
macOS 10.15 Catalina

Trying to connect my new HP VH240a Monitor to my Macbook Pro running macOS 10.15 Catalina. Only shows the default Canalina photo, and the top toolbar. Does not show the icons at the bottom, and all my desktop links/icons are off to the right, so I can't see them. This is the same whether I use the included HDMI to HDMI cord, or a Thunderbolt to HDMI cord that I currently use with an old monitor.

When I connect my laptop to both monitors (using the Thunderbolt to HDMI with the old monitor, and HDMI TO HDMI with the new HP VH240a monitor), then the new HP VH240a Monitor works fine, but I don't want to keep the old one.

Also, the new HP monitor works great with my cctv security system. Just won't view properly with my Macbook Pro.

Thanks!
