can't find out which sort of charger i need as i have lost mine

Thanks for your response. I now have the charger, but it won't charge the laptop!  is it possible that the battery is defective?  I only have 5% battery left on it and unable to charge so wary of trying too many things. any suggestions, than kyou

Sure, could be the battery.

 

Read through the suggestions - test the battery and decide how to proceed.

 

Side Note

 

All batteries die, some do so quietly and some first inflate and then fail.

 

The only way to know, of course, is to open the case and look at it.

 

If the battery is swollen, it must be removed from the computer and replaced to prevent further damage to the computer case and possible damage to other components in the computer.

  • If the battery is in a swollen or bloated condition, the battery must be removed from the computer and replaced.
