Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

A few times I've experienced an issue where my monitor suddenly goes black followed by a single beep from the PC.  I could not ping nor remote into it from another machine.  The PC is simply unresponsive.  I have to perform a hard shut down in order for it to work again.  I cannot find any incidents reported in Windows Event Viewer and no minidump file is ever made.  I've previously tried running a check disk, memory check and updating the Nvidia driver but eventually the problem occurred again.  The problem doesn't happen frequently but it's enough to make me concern.

Has anyone ever experienced this problem before?  Any advice is welcome.

Thanks
