HP Envy 19S92AV
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a fairly new (still under warranty) laptop that occasionally locks up requiring a reboot, or the fan ramps up then the screen just goes black (requiring a refresh of any open browser).
HP support says that a factory reset is required before that will honor the warranty. I have my laptop configured just how I like it and I back up the data, but reinstalling and reconfiguring the laptop would take many hours of my valuable time. HP does not care.
I am a systems engineer with over forty years of experience. I know what is wrong with this computer. But HP insists on doing it their way... and so I do not get warranty performance. I was also told if I open the laptop, change the SSD, change any memory, do ANYTHING inside, the warranty is voided.
I explained that I have an external SSD that has a factory image with up-to-date drivers I can boot from (essentially the same as a factory reset) and yet the problem persists... but no, they must reset the internal SSD, not only that they want internet access to my laptop so they can do it. (uhhhh, no...)
I know I just need a new motherboard.
