HP 260 g2 dm
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I attempted to use a USB to install my Windows 7 Pro on to my HP 260 G2 DM brick.

After about 2 weeks of pain at trying to get my Windows 7 Pro installed on an HP that came with FDOS on it, I finally got the fix and wanted to share to decrease the pain for others.

I first attempted to install my copy of Windows 7 on the machine but got to the welcome screen and no mouse or keyboard.

Then I went to the HP site and downloaded the cloud USB install creation tool.

I download the cloud USB install creation tool. Did the installation on the USB and attempted to use it on the device. All I got for my trouble was a boot that went to a blank black screen with a flashing cursor. After reading everything on the net that was even a slight match. I finally figured out the problem.

When the HP cloud install sets the partition on the USB it uses NTFS.

To fix this and in an act of disparation I copied everthing off the USB to the local drive of another computer.. did a DISKPART, List disk, select disk #, clean, create partition primary, format fs=FAT32 quick, assign and then copied the files back to the USB.

It installed without one complaint. I just need to manually install the Network and base drivers using the browse the same USB stick and it was up and running.

Hope this saves someone some time.
