I have a four year old Pavilion 14-al062nr. About a week ago, it spontaneously shut itself down and immediately began to start up again, but it never got there. I held down the power button to crash it and tried to start it again. But it wouldn't boot. The fan started and the keyboard lit up, but the screen remained dark. I tried to access BIOS and could not.
I took it to a repair shop and they noticed that there was a slight screen flicker. Around the same time, the keyboard stopped lighting up when it started up. They advised that it might be the GPU and, if so, the computer was shot.
But today I tried to start it up again and noticed for the first time that the CAPS LOCK key was blinking. When it first starts up it gives me a pattern of 5 long and 3 short. After that, it gives me a pattern of 3 long and 2 short, which continues indefinitely.
I researched that this could be a BIOS or RAM issue. So I tried reseating the RAM - I tried booting with just one stick and then the other. I tried restoring the BIOS with Win+B and then I also tried it with a USB drive. None of this has made a difference.
What I want to know is: Is there anything else I can try or should I give up?
