spectre x360 14
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I received a new spectre x360 14 laptop a month or so ago for work (I teach at a university). The pen that came with the device (HP rechargeable MPP 2.0) worked fine at first. However, now in the middle of my lectures/class, it cuts out. In fact, the other day my whole computer froze while trying to use oneNote and I had to hard reset the computer. Sometimes it just seems to stutter and writing doesn't appear, but other times it completely stops working. I can always see the cursor from the pen on the screen, but it just stops writing.

At first I thought it was perhaps because I had an HDMI to USB C adapter connected to show the students my laptop screen. But it happens even when not connected now. Also, I thought perhaps it only happened in OneNote, but now it happens in any app where I'm trying to write (like the windows whiteboard as well). An older HP pen (from a 2017 spectre x360 15) I had sometimes works, so I'm pretty sure it's the pen or pen/laptop interaction, but any thoughts? Could it be graphics settings for the intel Iris Xe? Interestingly a student in the class I'm teaching has the exact same laptop and without being connected to HDMI, etc., is having the same problem when trying to take notes in class. I'm not perfect with technology, but I'm an engineer and the class is a robotics class, so please don't tell me to just update the drivers (I've already tried that).

Thanks a lot. This is really frustrating and makes me worry that this kind of laptop isn't appropriate for note taking/presentations.
