HP ZBook 15v G5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After unsuccesful installation of HP Thunderbolt G2 Docking Station firmware v1.0.57.1 Rev.A (sp95855.exe) my Thunderbolt Controller Driver has been removed.

So I have separately downloaded the driver Intel Thunderbolt Controller version 17.4.78.500 Rev.A (sp96282.exe) on my HP ZBook 15v G5 but I'm unable to install it. The error message is: "Thunderbolt Software Setup Wizard ended prematurely because of an error. Your system has not been modified."

So my second idea was to manually install the driver from the Device Manager by manually pointing the tbt100x.inf file.

I have selected Thuderbolt Controller 15D9.

The driver has been installed but it can't run - it displays error code 31 with an exclamation mark on the device tree.

How can I install the Thunderbolt Controller Driver?

Thanks.

UPDATE:

1. Event Log of MsiInstaller fro Thunderbolt Driver reports error 1603

2. It didn't help to manually remove the "tbt100x.sys" from windows drivers folder, together with: sc delete nhi
