Hi guys,
I just purchased an HP Prime graphing calculator 2 month ago. I'd been longing for an HP graphing calculator since 2003 but never seemed to find the right one. I was already eyeing for HP 49g but that model was plaqued with some many problems. FYI I had owned only Casio calculators previously - among them FX-7000G (since 1985) and CFX-9850G Plus (since 1998).
When 49g+ and 50g came out later, I began to have doubts about HP calculators in the sense that the models kept changing quite fast - they were some improvements but nothing major or drastic. So I didn't do anything, just waited for the most perfect model to appear in the market. Since most were still monochrome & had no touchscreen function, my interest to buy one slowly died out.
However, earlier this year sometime in March, that interest for a graphing calculator suddenly re-emerged when I was searching for a scientific calculator for my 18-year-old daughter who was starting her A-levels, I came across HP 39gs sold cheap online and decided to buy it. While waiting for my order which took 3-4 weeks to arrive, I saw HP Prime somewhere on YouTube and got crazy about it. It was a game changer, having all the features of a perfect graphing calculator eg. touch screen, colour display, beautifully designed & crafted, rechargeable lithium ion battery, etc. I 'm not gonna wait for the 39gs - so I decided to get the flagship model, HP Prime at the nearest local bookstore at a premium price around USD235. Who cares!
My HP Prime has been great. I enjoy using it very much but when I found its nearest rival, TI Nspire CX CAS could do more tricks on 3D graphs, then I began to just wonder when HP Prime can perform similar or better functions.
So now my greatest wish (if you don't mind me asking) is if we can have 3D graphs generated using parametric equations on the HP Prime, not just in terms of z = f(x,y) only. I hope HP expert/programming team can do something about this and issue new firmware update soon with an app that can cater for this. I think that's all I'm going to write for now.
Thank you very much for hearing out my concern. I look forward to hearing the good news soon.
Best regards,
