LaserJet P2055DN
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP LaserJet P2055DN which has served me well for 8 years.  Recently it displayed a "84 Err 1D31" message.  I'd been using the system with Windows 10 for at least 2 years and nothing has changed in my network for the period other than Windows updates.   This error display 5 minutes and 40 seconds after cycling power.  I can use the printer via USB during that time period, but the printer can't be found on the network, (although I can ping the IP address that is assigned by DHCP).

I had read that this is a formater card issue and needs to be resolve by changing the formater card, so I purchased a used and tested formater card off Ebay, (HP no longer makes them).   I tested the used card for 17 minutes prior to connecting it to the network and then I ran "reset defaults" on the printer in order to reset the IP address for assignment by DHCP.   However after this reset, the same error reappears, again after 5 minutes and 40 seconds.  I also ran these same test on a separate network using a TP-Link router  and a different Windows 10 computer, and I changed the toner cartridge out of frustration.   HP Easy Start fails to see the printer on the network, but I can ping the printer IP address and I can use the printer via USB, but only for 5 minutes and 40 seconds after power up.     So my question is: besides cycling power every time I want to print via USB, does anyone have a suggestion on how to approach this problem, since swapping the formater card didn't appear to work.

I have another network printer (color), so it's not a huge issue, but just a bit frustrating that I can't fix the issue, particularly since I'm an embedded systems engineer and regularly using JTAG, so I'm aware of flashing issue, (I've never attempted to update the printers firmware prior to this problem).   It would be nice to know what "84 Err 1D31" actually means.   Maybe there is a PCB hack that I can solder that will allow me to at use the board without having to cycle power ever 5 minutes.

Oh, one extra thing: when I performed a "reset" on the used card purchased from ebay, the "Hardware Address" changed, and the Product Serial number was erased which I found very odd/suspicious since those should have been permanent.
