We have been migrated from on-prem exchange to MS365.
We have multiple of these machines and they all show the same problem:

In the webgui under Scan - Default SMTP Confgi, I enabled Default SMTP server. I have put the MS365 MX pointer address into the server name field and made a connector for Exchange-Online to accept our external IP address. Port 25 is open outbound. As From: setting I choose "default from address" and put in an address under our own domain.

This all works, and we have a xerox machine that works flawless this way. Manual SMTP telnet sessions prove it is working as intended. However the MFP only sends to local addresses under our own domains. I have been investigating for over half a day.

What strikes me is that when I send a scan to my own local address, the scan arrives, but shows my own address as sender, instead of the pre-defined device address. This is no problem locally, but of course not allowed to external addresses as open relay by MS365 Exchange online. My assumption is that the MFP falsely sends out mail with the TO address as SENDER address. That would be a bug, but if so it would be unlikely that I am the first one to mention this. I already update to the latest firmware (october 2020 I believe so pretty recent).

What am I missing?
