HP office jet 6968

We had a bad storm and a power outage for a couple days. During that time the printer and everything else turned off improperly due to that power failure. Now I have a printer failure message that says "There is a problem with the printer or print system. Turn the printer off, turn on. If you continue

to get this message, contact HP. 0 x 6 1 0 0 0 0 4 a."

My warranty expired January 2020. The virtual agent keeps on having me put in the warranty information and then directs me to the community chat. I'm not sure they will even let me talk to a live agent because  the warranty has expired. Not sure what I can do now. I've already turned the system on and off as it directed.
