Product: Np60 Battery

I received a new HP t250 digital camcorder never used.  I found out after charging the battery (NP60) it did not charge at all.  So my question is can I use any make of NP 60 battery, or do I have to buy the HP one.  Thanks very much.  Ps  the date on the battery is 1205,
