Solved!

Clicking on "SEND FAX" from 8620 Printer Assistant does nothing

HP Recommended
8620
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

I am running windows 10, and I removed and then reinstalled my printer. Now I have a printer, but no fax in the list of devices. When I click on "send a fax" in the HP 8620 Printer Assistant, nothing happens.

What do I do now?

Hi there @LevSeltzer

Welcome to the HP Support Forums! It is a great place to find the help you need, both from other users, HP experts and other support personnel.

I understand that you are looking for help with the functionality of your printer under the Windows 10 Technical preview.

I refer you to the following items from the pinned post by @Bill_F,

As a friendly reminder:

HP does not support Windows® 10 Technical Preview. Please visit www.microsoft.com regarding support for these versions.

Download and install the preview only if you…

  • Want to try out software that’s still in development and like sharing your opinion about it.
  • Don’t mind lots of updates or a UI design that might change significantly over time.
  • Really know your way around a PC and feel comfortable troubleshooting problems, backing up data, formatting a hard drive, installing an operating system from scratch, or restoring your old one if necessary.
  • Know what an ISO file is and how to use it.
  • Aren't installing it on your everyday computer.

Windows 10 becomes live in 36 days. If HP software doesn't work then, what will you do? Will you still refer me to Windows for help? or will the HP software work perfectly with the official version of windows 10, but the Windows 10 Pro Insider Preview Evaluation Copy Builde 10130 is still too buggy, and that is the source of my distress right now?

@LevSeltzer,

HP does not support Beta Software. Currently your product is supported for the all the operating systems listed on its product support page.  As for the release version of Windows 10,  please visit www.hp.com/go/windows10upgrade for more details. HP will provide information on which units have been tested and qualified with Windows 10 as available.
