IQ810 es, cant find video card with Windows 7
10-03-2009 10:38 AM

After changing from Vista to Windows 7 64 bit, the operating system cant find the video card, no problem in Vista.
The pc has a NVIDIA 9600M GS card, when trying to install the Widows 7 64 bit driver or any NVIDIA driver, the installation software reports back no compatibel videocard found.
Can anybody help me to find a way to install the drivers.

Atempted to install the driver, but the installation prosses dident find any compatabel hardware so the the installation prosses was stoped.
When i run the Hp diagnostics, it cant find the video card eighter, it comes up with at NVIDIA generic video card with 14mb ram ?, before installation of Windows 7, it did com up with a NVIDIA 9600M GS with 512mb ram ?
So any other id's, or must I bit the dust and go back to Vista 64 bit.

It is almost certainly a driver issue, apparently the nvidia drivers on their site are the right ones but there is a problem with the hardware id's.It will probably be fixed after some time but in the meanwhile you can try installing this one:
http://www.nvidia.com/content/DriverDownload-March2009/confirmation.php?url=/Windows/186.81/186.81_notebook_win7_winvista_64bit_international_whql.exe&lang=us&type=GeForce%20M
If that does not work you can always try to install the vista driver,I think this is it:
http://www.radarsync.com/downloaditem.aspx?locid=663262
and here's a link about how to install it in compatability mode:

Good luck!

Hi,
Modded Nvidia drivers ver 186.91.
How to install them uner Win7:
1. Download driver here, double click and select extract,
2. Download from this site with drivers also INF Modified (top part of this site) and replace original INF in extracted folder,
3. Install & reboot.

Not sure why the moderator sent this to another forum, you would have had a quicker response from the touchsmart forum,...
In anycase you can download the HP supplied x64 Windows Vista Driver to your PC and extract the exe contents using winrar. Once you have extraced the contents, you then run the setup.exe from the src folder from what you extracted. The HP Vista x64 Driver is compatable with Windows 7..
Here is your driver

You should then run a windows update.
If you want to try the nvidia driver, then you will need to modify the inf file manually, use the instructions taken from this URL:
