Sometimes you have to get creative.
Did that file extract to a folder on your PC?
If so, try to manually install it by updating the driver from the printer folder and browsing to that folder, or use a free program like 7-Zip and break down the executable into its parts.
You can try that select the printer from the list and the "Have Disk" prompt and browse to the folder where the drivers are.
That way you bypass the OS check.

NOTE: The HP Printer Install Wizard is not available for all products. This tool is available only for Windows 8 Consumer Preview. The HP Printer Install Wizard works with products connected with a USB cable or with a wired (Ethernet) or wireless network connection. If you would like to connect your product wirelessly, but it is not yet on a wireless network, you need to temporarily connect the product with a USB cable to run the wizard.
