@rdcorz
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • What happens when you power on the computer?
  • Have you tried starting the computer without Recovery media?

While you respond to that, let's try this workaround:( https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Issues-with-System-Recovery/m-p... )

Enter BIOS by tapping F10 at startup. Once in tap F9 to reset to Default settings. Next change the date to 1/01/2012. Save and Exit. Run Recovery-on the first reboot initiated by Recovery tap F10 again to enter BIOS to be sure the year is still set at 2012. Exit and let Recovery resume.

(Note: don't forget to later correct BIOS date)

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
