Pavilion g7
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Hello, I have a few questions I would like answered.

(This happened after the last windows update a few days ago.)

I am currently living with my grandmother for the time being and her internet is WAY better then at my parent's house. But one day when I decided to move in with her, I decided to go on and play my favorite online games. But then that's where the problem started.

I was playing TF2 and I was in a pub server. Things were going good until I started to lag constantly throughout the entire match. It got so bad that I had to exit out of the game. This not the only problem I had to deal with. The lag spread to my other online games like Unturned and Paladins where I will constantly be places where I shouldnt be and get disconnected from the server.

So I decided to find the problem by updating everything I had. Including updating the HP app on my laptop. I use a Pavilion g7, and it was never a problem to download games onto it.

But not even the updates didnt work because it started right back up again. So then I tried the Task Manager and see if anything in the backgound would be corrupting my online expericance. But STILL I get lag.

So I decided to just check my internet speed and see what came up. I went to Speedtest. net to see the problem. These are the results I got:

Ping: 25ms     Download: 2.48 Mbps       Upload: 0.25Mb

Then I went ahead and downloaded inSSIDer to check in another way, Here is the results of that:

Signal: -48 dBm,      Channel: 8,       Link Score: 55

All I'm asking now is what is going on to my computer?

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.

As I understand there are constant lag & spikes whenever I try to play an online game,

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

Have you performed an Anti-virus or an Anti-malware scan on the computer?

Does any offline game lag or have similar issues as your online games?

While you respond to that, I recommend you try the ethernet port (wired internet) and check if that works,

This is very likely due to your wireless (interference from others or radio devices in your home on 2.4GHz) and not your ISP, although that is not 100%. To be sure of that run pingtest.net with an Ethernet connection to your computer.

You are using channel 9. You will be getting interference from several of the non-overlapping channels (6 and 11). You usually want to use channel 1, 6, or 11 -- whichever has the fewest other strong signals (others around you with wireless).

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉
