Apple Ipad
iOS 12 - 12.0.1

Print from Ipad shows "printer low on ink".  It does it when I print from my Ipad and when my husband prints from his Ipad.

@Connie47, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you better, I would like to know the following:

Which printer are you using?

Did you check the ink levels on your printer?

If no, please check the ink levels as the alert on your iPad may be due to the low ink levels on your printer and you may have to replace them.

Keep me posted.

Cheers 🙂

The printer is an HP Envy 5540 and I did check ink levels and they were ok.  This did not just happen but is an ongoing problem.

Try updating your iOS which may help us resolve the issues.

HP regularly releases new printer firmware versions with product enhancements or issue fixes. Depending on your printer, apps on the printer control panel might also receive updates. Update firmware and apps on a regular basis to make sure you are getting the most out of your printer. To update the firmware follow the instructions on this link.

After updating the printer firmware, remove the ink cartridges and power cycle the printer. Insert the cartridges back when prompted.

Try printing using AirPrint. Follow the instructions below:

  1. Open the app that you want to print from.
  2. To find the print option, tap the app’s share icon — reply icon or share icon — or tap .
  3. Tap pinter icon or Print. If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section. Not all apps support AirPrint.
  4. Tap Select Printer and choose an AirPrint-enabled printer
    Choose an AirPrint-enabled printer
  5. Choose the number of copies or other options, like which pages you want to print.
  6. Tap Print in the upper-right corner.

Keep me posted.

Cheers 🙂
