Brand new, was working fine, all wonderful - until windows update yesterday, and now the mute button is always on, in either laptop or tablet mode, unless HDMI plugged in, and then sound does go out through HDMI. Since there was a big W10 update overnight, that is suspicious.
Trying to change by the taskbar icon reports: No Audio output device is installed.
The keyboard mute button is light, and teh taskbar sound icon is crossed out (=Mute).
Control panel/Device Manager/Sound -> "No Audio Device is Installed":
Control panel/Device Manager/Sound, Video and Game Controllers:
Conexant ISST Audio
Intel(R) Display Audio
I see lots of similar complaints over the past year for HP laptops ("Mute Button stuck on"); some seem to be hardware related, so I cannot know if the Windows update broke this, or if that is just coincidence.
