Mute button works, but light stopped working

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My mute button works fine, but the light indicating mute on/off stopped working.  I had updated to latest "creator" version of Windows 10 (from Windows 10) which screwed up my printer drivers.  Reverted back to the latest version of 10 that I was on (before Creator's version):  everything seems to work but the light on mute key.  

 

I have no idea if the light stopped working due to a hardware error (coincidentally at the time I upgraded and then downgraded windows 10) or whether in the software upgrade and downgrade to current OS, a software problem has caused the mute key light to stop working.

 

 

I'm currently running Windows 10, Home, version 1607
