I have two HP Envy (model h8-1534) that just will not boot past the HP screen 9 times out of 10. I have to continuously try over and over and over again before it boots and then it boots with no issue.
Tried a newCMOS battery, ran HP diagnostics, there are no BIOS error beeps. The computers were both purchased at the same time a few years ago. I usually just keep hitting the power button and then hard resetting it if it is locked up until it finally boots as if nothing happened.
Unplugging all USB devices seems to have no effect on whether or not it starts. Seems to restart OK most of the time but definitely hates being shut down. I also unplug it completely and hit the power button a few times to expell any remaining power in the power supply with sometimes helps but it is so inconsistent that I can't tell if that actually does anything. Sometimes waiting a little while also seems to work but hard to tell if that is the true cause of it booting or not.
I also can't get one of them to ever get out of sleep mode so I had to disable it completely. Having to leave the computer on and can't put it to sleep, stinks and sucks up at least 20 minutes to get it restarted if there is a power outage or update that causes it to shut down.
Also saw suggestions for cleaning the dust out (not an issue) and running the HP diagnostics, did that too.
Please help. TIA
