Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP ENVY 15-k061no Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

Serial number [removed] is running Feature update Windows 10 version 1803.

 

HP Support Assistant very often runs for maybe 45 mins or more consuming 50% of my i7 processor, no disk activity. Apparently nothing happens except that the support assistant keeps running and running. End the end the program stops with no apparent result or output. It was running for 45 min this morning and now it is running again. This is not the correct behaviour, is it?  

 

I have tried to stop the program, but it starts again the next time the pc is started. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program (but kept the settings) with no result.
