Officejet Pro 7740
Unknown

I have an Officejet Pro 7740 wide format printer that has just recently given me the blue screen of death with what appears to be an error code below it.  I have tried "googling" the error code, and google produces no results.  Nor does HP and its search function.  I have called technical support, only to be informed that my printer is 32 days out of warranty.  How convenient.  I am hoping that maybe there is someone within this community that can give me some assistance, or something more than just purchase a new $280 printer, as the technician did.

Error code: B80FBEDE  above the error code is a picture of what appears to be a "power" symbol.

If I unplug my printer and wait, it will start back up with what appears to be no issues.  Approx. 10 min. later, I will see the blue screen with the same error code on it.  When I called into HP, the technician stated that that was a very "peculiar" error code.  But because I am technically out of warranty, it will cost me a non-refundable $19.99 for them to maybe tell me what the issue is.  He could not guarantee that they would have a solution.  Because of that, the technician stated I should just consider purchasing a new printer (same model since it hasn't been updated).  So spend more money $280 vs. $19.99.  I did ask to speak to a supervisor, considering I am just out of warranty, and the supervisor said the same thing about the non-refundable fee, and no guarantee.  I couldn't get any acknowledgment that this is something they have seen before.

I just want to know if this is an error code that is due to a part failing, and could potentially be replaced, or if the printer is basically toast.  HP has been helpful in the past when another printer happened to be out of warranty, but due to its low use, they replaced the part for me.

Any help is appreciated,

Jason
