Hi everyone, some time ago while playing videos, I had noticed some strange audio interruptions accompanied by a buzz; this also happened with off-line videos, as well as streaming. A few days later I also encountered problems with the microphone that did not work at all, but that started to work again if I disabled and rehabilitated it; unfortunately this only for a few minutes, until I closed the audio control window (then everything started again from the beginning).
My computer is an HP Specter model laptop, which worked perfectly up to two or three weeks ago; problems arose after some updates via windows update.
After contacting HP telephone support and staying on the phone in front of the PC for two hours in various phone calls with them, and after contacting Microsoft support, without resolving anything.
As they told me in device management I have:
- uninstalled / reinstalled audio devices,
-I updated the drivers
-I also tried to replace them with the drivers on the computer (I think they are the standard ones of Windows, but I would not say stupid things).
I also did a thorough scan with the antivirus and I even did a clean installation of Windows, which then proved useless as well as tedious! ...
Suddenly, a few days after abbandoning the hope (I had little time and I needed the computer for something else), without doing anything and while I was working, an automatic update started, which miraculously seemed to have solved the problem.
In fact, only the microphone problem was temporarily solved for a week, maybe less!
The problem continued instead of the audio interruptions in the movies with the annoying "buzz type sound".
Looking here and the on the Internet I found that the problem could be the settings for the audio improvement, which I disabled.
It looked like it was gone ...
After a couple of days the audio started to give problems again during the movies with the annoying sound / interruption, and at the same time the microphone stopped working!
After various tests and retries, I noticed that if I disable the microphone in audio device management, the problem of audio interruptions in the movies disappears;
the other way around, if I try to restart the microphone, as well as not working, I start to notice the interruptions with the characteristic "buzzz" sound.
NOTE: I was unable to open the Skype application today. I have uninstalled Skype for now, but I know there must be something in the drivers, but neither by installing and reinstalling the same, nor by doing an update I was able to solve the problem.
The only time when an unexpected, but brief solution came, was after the automatic update described above.
Thirty years that I use the computer I have never found a similar problem, NEVER!
And all this right now that I need the microphone for skype, because I have to do remote work video conferences (also because of the coronavirus)!
I seem to go crazy ...
