Pavilion 27 QD display
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I have just bought this display to work at home with during the Coronavirus lockdown. It should display at 2,560 by 1,440 pixels (QHD) but all the computers I have tried it with only achieve 1,920 by 1,080.

I have tried a Macbook pro running the latest version of Mac OS High Sierra, a Mac mini running a fully updated copy of Mac OS Catalina and a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. All have graphics cards that will drive a 2,560 by 1,440 display.

The MacBook Pro and SP4 connected with a mini Display Port to HDMI adapter and the included HDMI cable. The Mac mini with this and additionally a HDMI cable directly (and a second high quality HDMI cable). The Macs recognise the name of the display but claim it is a 30.5 inch unit with 1,920 by 1,080 pixels. The SP4 says it is a universal PnP display.

Pretty disappointing really. I've ordered a MDP to DP Cable and hope that might help. Hopefully the same solution that applied here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-Pavilion-27q-Display-cannot-reach-p... might help.

Anyone got any other ideas? (I don't have administration rights on the SP4 so can't try installing a specific driver.)
