Hi,
unfortunately I’ve been experiencing and issue with my brand new hp pavilion gaming 17” - i7/1660tI model.
does anyone else have this issue?
it’s a fantastic laptop but I’m having real trouble with the laptop making a loud annoying noise, similar to that of coil whine - a beeping/static/electric sound that is present all the time, even when sitting idle (which is why coil whine wouldn’t make much sense unless it’s the motherboard) and is especially bad when charging the laptop - it audibly increases when I plug and unplug the charger, and again increases when more processing tasks are started.
I’ve updated the BIOS, windows, driver, uninstalled the audio drivers, disabled the GPU and HDD, ran the HP diagnostics etc. etc. To try and narrow down the problem but I’m afraid to no avail - it’s a shame it’s such a high pitched screech/whine that is audible from a few feet away.
I’ve used countless laptops in the past but I’ve never heard anything sounding like this, could it be a loose connection etc? Maybe an issue with the power supply brick as was the case with some DELL laptops.
Does anyone else who has this laptop also experiance the same problem? Because I’ve read a few reports of it on these forums too so I’m worried that subsistent replacements will have the same problem? It would be interesting to see if anyone with the i5/1650 model of the 17” pavilion gaming has the same issue - is it the chipset etc?
I really like the rest of the laptop features so I’m hoping there is a fix and I don’t have to look for an alternative
